What is signal strength?
It says how clearly a mechanism is recognisable in your text — not how good your action was.
On the evaluation screen
Next to the Primary signal there’s a small bar with up to three segments, e.g. 2/3. That’s the signal strength: how unambiguously the mechanism follows from your text.
A full bar means the situation is described clearly and the assignment is unambiguous. A weak bar means the text allows several readings.
What signal strength is NOT
- Not a grade. It does not rate your action.
- Not progress. A strong signal isn’t "better" than a weak one.
- Not a total. There is no sum across mechanisms and no ranking.
That’s why the note below the evaluation reads: "Signal strength describes how clearly a mechanism is recognisable in the text. It does not judge your action."
Signal strength in your profile
In Profile the section is called Signal profile, subtitle: "Evidence, not performance points". Per mechanism it shows:
- how many pieces of evidence you have ("3 pieces of evidence" or "No evidence yet")
- a bar as a rough visual guide
- where comparison data exists: whether the mechanism appears more often, less often or as often as the week before
- listed separately: assignments you haven’t confirmed yet ("observed, not yet confirmed")
When the signal is weak
Next time, describe one concrete situation instead of several, and name what got in the way. That makes the mechanism more visible. And if the classification still doesn’t fit: correct it — that’s what the buttons are for.
