What do the six mechanisms mean?
KarmaFlow assigns each situation to one of six mechanisms — and, where recognisable, to one of eight areas of life.
The six mechanisms
KarmaFlow doesn’t measure what you set out to do, but how you handle it:
- Starting — you begin, even when getting started is hard
- Sticking with it — you keep going once the first burst of motivation is gone
- Resisting — you hold out against an impulse that pulls you off course
- Recovering — you rest on purpose. Recovery is an achievement, not a failure
- Adapting — you change the plan instead of dropping it
- Teaming up — you ask for support, or you give it
KarmaFlow used to assign ten value dimensions (Care, Compassion, Mindfulness …). Those have been replaced by these six mechanisms.
Eight areas of life
An entry is also assigned to an area when it’s clearly recognisable: Exercise, Nutrition, Sleep, Work, Household, Social, Money, Other. If the area is unclear, it stays empty — nothing is guessed.
Evidence comes from you
The AI suggests a primary mechanism plus its signal strength, optionally a secondary signal, and the area. On the evaluation screen you confirm with Yes, choose Other dimension or Does not apply. Only a confirmed assignment becomes evidence.
Where do you see your profile?
In Profile under Signal profile: per mechanism, how many pieces of evidence you have and how they develop. Assignments you haven’t confirmed are listed separately ("observed, not yet confirmed"). There is deliberately no overall score.
These are observations from your own entries — not a rating of you as a person.
